Mainstream Music free essay sample

Im getting pretty annoyed of mainstream music. I have known plenty of bands for a while now. And, BAM, they go on MTV and everyone, I mean EVERYONE, is singing their songs. It is incredibly annoying. I dont think that people like the band for their music but just because they cracked the TRL countdown. For example, Boys Like Girls debut album came out in 2005. I was one of the first people to find out about them at my school. I listened to their song all throughout 2006. Before I know it, I see one of their videos getting premiered on Fuse, and soon MTV. At first I was glad for them, they had finally done what many just dream about. Then, it started getting really old. People start singing their songs. They buy the shirts. They tell their friends about The HOTTEST band of 2007. I am also annoyed of how people dont actually give the lyrics of songs attention. I absolutely HATE that. I also hate when people just hear one song from a music artist and they automatically think that they are the artists biggest and most loyal fan. I also find that Hip-Hop is getting pretty annoying. The songs are lacking meaning. Sex is what keeps the hip-hop community thriving, it is all they rap about. Their is rarely a hit where they are talking about something that people actually care about. They sing about beating up other people, getting all the girls, how gangster they are and basically how theyre going to hit the number one spot and how everyone is going to love them. Take 50 Cent, for example, his most recent album Curtis fell short of hitting the number one spot, behind Kanye West. People expected it to be genius. I, of course, didnt have high expectations. I, along with many, believe that he is one of the worst lyricists in mainstream music today. I call a square a square and a circle a circle he raps in his song Follow My Lead and it does not get any better from there. I dont think hes in the music business for the love of music rather than being in it for the money as he says in his songs, one too many times.

Free Essays on A Thematic Analysis Of â€Å"When, In Disgrace With Fortune And Men’s Eyes† Free Essays on A Thematic Analysis Of â€Å"When, In Disgrace With Fortune And Men’s Eyes† A thematic analysis of â€Å"When, in disgrace with Fortune and Men’s Eyes† Weather it be from family members, peers, or even a pet, everyone desires to be loved. Love is a powerful emotion that can create the strongest bonds that can last forever. Love, despite the happiness it can bring, also causes heartache, despair and sorrow. Shakespeare’s sonnet number twenty-nine expresses the sorrowful feelings attributed to the darker side of love. The person in â€Å"when, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes† feels depressed and unwanted. In the words: â€Å"†¦I all alone beweep my outcast state.†, he is expressing his loneliness in the fact that others reject him. When one feels unloved, they have a natural tendency to become jealous of those that are accepted and loved. In Shakespeare’s sonnet twenty-nine, the person expresses his jealousy in the following words: â€Å"†¦Wishing me like to one more rich in hope, featured like him, like him friends possessed.† He believes that if he had friends like the other guys, he would then have more hope in life. He goes on to say that maybe if he looked like those who had friends he would be accepted. Feeling like he is not good enough, this person begins to deviate from his interests and good qualities, and again jealousy takes over and he desires the other guys good qualities. â€Å"Desiring this man’s art and that man’ s scope, with what I most enjoy contented least†; he say’s sadly. In an ironic, almost humorous twist, the person thinks of someone who he loves and it changes his whole outlook on life. By thinking about this person and how he or she makes him feel, his level of confidence becomes much higher. He describes his change of feeling in the following words: â€Å"Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising, haply I think on thee, and then my state, like the lark at break of day arising†¦Ã¢â‚¬ With these words, the sonnet takes on a totally different tone. I will fill this to blog Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

I will fill this to blog - Essay Example The reality too is that in spite of this generational dance, of young people being exposed to and trying drugs, majority of college students move on to live productive academic and adult lives, unscathed by the brush with drugs. It is true too, that a percentage of students will become hooked, and will have negative life outcomes as a result. This dynamic too is well-mapped and observed as persisting through the generations. Is this a matter of framing then, this â€Å"issue† of drug use in college? is there a better way to approach the phenomenon, and to better secure the welfare of majority of college students? We have been trying to suppress drug use and to police and monitor students for decades, with no observable impact on drug and alcohol use. Are we trying to push back something that cannot be stopped? Do we need to reexamine how we view drug use in college, and re-examine too our notions about the sense of responsibility and the intelligence of young people on the cus p of adult life? (Drugwatch.com; Purdue University; Addiction Intervention; Amaro et al.; National Institutes of Health; CasaColumbia). Yes, as students, we have the power to keep ourselves informed about the reality of drug use in college. Many among us will do drugs and alcohol, but we need to be made aware that we will not be the first ones to do so, and we will not be the last. This has been the reality among students from past generations all the way to this one. The dance between school and community authorities on the one hand, and students on the other, is as old as time it seems. The reality is that students seemingly need to try out all kinds of things as part of the rite of passage to adulthood, the way young people experiment with sex too. Yet we also need to be aware that there is help for those among us who will try drugs and alcohol, and that

Advantages and the Use of Online Business Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Advantages and the Use of Online Business - Essay Example This paper tells that the internet is a fast and easy sharing tool of information, which makes it the most important tool of the new era. The Internet has been the catalyst for the change and development of the business world in the generation. It has become indispensable for the companies to gain the maximum benefit with lower fixed costs and investments, through their resources. This is done by using the most efficient manner to compete with rivals in terms of crises. Aydin & Kavaklioglu uses content analysis method in their study on the website www.kitapix.com to make sales directly to the final consumer over the internet. This website was formed in 2009 under a low budget but established a customer group in a spell. Low investment costs and low fixed costs benefits, made e-commerce much more attractive for other companies. Besides the low costs, Baird notes that e-commerce may reach to a large geographical area with unlimited boundaries of service time and provide a great competi tive advantage to the businesses. For example, in the retail industry, merchandise assortments can increase inventory carrying costs and expenditures, which are caused by product returns. To control these costs, many retailers have maintained relatively few stock-keeping units (SKUs), which yield a pattern of awareness in sales commonly known as the 80/20 rule and described by the Pareto Principle. Another example is that some people have claimed that the surge of Internet retail activity can dilute this concentrated pattern of sales by lowering consumer search costs. As a result, they have argued that Internet commerce may contribute to an expansion in the share of sales by niche products, thereby creating a longer tail in the distribution of SKU sales. This phenomenon may ultimately make it more attractive to sell a greater variety of SKUs without incurring excessive carrying and product return costs.

Narendra Modi Essay Example for Free

Narendra Modi Essay Born in 1950. 1960-1970 Tea, Tea, Tea! A cup of Tea for 10 cents. Would you like to have some tea sir? 2001- Chief Minister of Gujarat, one of the biggest states of India and remained as the Chief Minister for four consecutive terms until he became the Prime Minister of India in 2014. Before Narendra Modi became the Prime minister of India, corruption was the only key to success in India. A couple years ago, my mom got her divers license in Muscat, where I stay and she wanted Indian driving license so that she could drive in India as well. She went to the department office, and to her surprise there was this guy standing at the entrance of the office gate who was ready to give her an original driver’s license without having to give a test for half the price in no time. My mom did that because she didn’t want to stand in a line for like hours to get her license. Last summer, I drove to the department office to get my license but I couldn’t dare to get one illegally. Modi’s new law says that any person reporting an instance of corruption will be rewarded and person engaging in corruption will be punished. So now, you’ve got more eyes watching you than before if you’re in India committing any kind of crime. A brilliant idea to stop corruption because he realizes that not many are willing to eradicate corruption until they have some personal gain. During his election campaign, Modi spoke about his plan to replace the whole legal system of India with fewer new laws. The opposition party and many business men argued that only a more rigorous legal system can help prevent corruption. More than 65% of the population was corrupt. According to India times, Modi responded, â€Å"My election campaign is totally based on what I will do as a Prime Minister and what a government should do is to create a positive climate that will bring investment. I don’t make false promises. This is what I will do and vote for me only if you want this.† If I were him, then I would never dare to talk about such a plan that would invite criticism during the election campaign. Normally, a person would think that Modi just lost 65% of the votes that he had already won. But guess what, Modi not only had those 65% in his favor, but also the others supported him because he offered a brighter future for India. Previously, one would need to take multiple approvals for an action, running from this govt office to that govt office, etc. Today you need to go to one govt office where you only need to take a couple approvals to begin action. According to times of  India, Modi created history when he invited the prime ministers of the south Asian countries including that of Pakistan to his prime ministerial swearing ceremony after which they discussed their political issues. Getting over the ego, takes a lot of guts. In an important meeting with representatives of the neighboring countries, he asked the nations to be clear and declare immediately whether the countries were with India or against India, so that it isn’t like good face to face and later crossing borders and firing soldiers. The outcome of this meeting was a peace treaty signed by South Asian prime ministers (SO no more world war 3 between India and Pakistan), improved trade relations and took action for the better of collective south Asia. Here is a glass of water. Some people will say that the glass is half filled by water, some will say that the glass is half empty. He believes in the third view as explained in the Economic Times. According to him, the glass is half of water and half of air because only optimism can encourage courage. Here is a short video of what the Indian prime minister has accomplished in his 1st 100 working days which no other prime minister ever has. TO conclude,  Modi is a business man because he is a risk-taking, profit-minded person and I call him courageous because he has the courage to believe the unbelievable. Today, he is the inspiration of Indian youth. If you’re looking for Leadership, Governance and Decision Making, then vote for Modi. Thank you. Modi says, â€Å"people throw stones at me and I show courage by collecting those stones and making a temple out of them.† During his election campaign, he openly blamed the then chief minister of Delhi for corruption. The whole of india blindly trusted her that time because she was like this mother figure who would die for her country and blabla. Guess what, delhi chief minister was investigated and she was found guilty. Imagine, if she was not found guilty which was very much possible considering the power she had, then he would have not gained a single vote. He says that business lies in taking risks and higher the risks, higher the profits are. Modi had applied for visa to the United States and was rejected  3 times while he was the chief minister of Gujarat. But one day before the 2014 prime ministerial election results were out, Barak Obama sent an invitation to Narendra Modi requesting him to visit America. This doesn’t talk about Modi’s courage but indirectly speaks about his bold and aggressive nature which even forced Obama to invite Modi a day before he was announced as the Pri me Minister.

Albrecht Dürer’s Meisterstiche Essay -- The Meistersteiche of Dürer

Albrecht Dà ¼rer was a German Renaissance artist known for his prints, and books on proportion. For over a hundred years, Knight, Death and Devil,(cat. 1) Saint Jerome in His Study,(cat. 2) and Melencolia I, (cat. 3) have been considered Dà ¼rer’s Meisterstiche, or â€Å"master prints.†1 There are several different interpretations of these 3 engravings, the imagery with in them, and their relation to each other. These Master Prints are probably the most written about of Dà ¼rer’s work. In the year 2014, we are at the 500-year anniversary of the creation of Melencolia I, and Saint Jerome in His Study, they still remain provocative, and mysterious. Albrecht Dà ¼rer was born in 1471 to Albrecht Dà ¼rer the Elder, a goldsmith in Nuremburg, Germany. He was an adept draftsman at a very young age; this is obvious when observing his Self Portrait at Thirteen. (cat 4) When he reached fifteen years old he started to apprentice as an artist under Michael Wolgemut. After three years as his apprentice he traveled around Europe and also trained in Venice.2 He melded the idealism of the Italians with the realism and symbolism of the Germans. While his paintings were remarkable, his real impression was left by his printmaking.3 Dà ¼rer used both woodcut, and engraving techniques to create art prints that were easily reproduced, and spread to the masses. Woodcuts consist of carving away the negative space on a wood block leaving a relief that will be inked and then pressed with damp paper. Gold and metal workers had been using engraving probably since the dawn of civilization to decorate jewelry and armor. Shortly before Dà ¼rer’s time it was developed as a method of printmaking. In this technique a burin is used to carve away the lines that the artist wants to... ...eflections on archetypal images. Cologne: Taschen, 2010. 132. Print. Clark Institute.
